The fault in our stars

Hazel Grace Lancaster

“You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I’m grateful. I can’t tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You heard me say that I don’t want to write a eulogy because I’m not ready. But I guess that’s what this is. I can’t talk about our love story like it’s over, because it’s not. It’s not over. I just want more time. But I will never regret loving you. Even though it hurts, I will always love you.”

This monologue is from Captain America: Civil War and it is spoken by Helmut Zemo. He is not a typical villain. He is a normal man who lost his family in the Avengers battle. In this monologue, he talks about how he thought his family was safe, but they died during the fight between superheroes. Zemo couldnt kill Avengers because they are too strong, but he wanted to make them fight each other. He blames them for his lost. This show how pain can change a man. Zemo was not evil, he was broken. His revenge come from sadness, not hate.

My father lived outside the city. I thought we would be safe there. My son was excited. He could see the iron man from the car window. I told my wife, “don’t worry. They’re fighting in the city. We are miles from there.” When the dust cleared and the screaming stopped, it took me two days until I found their bodies. My father, still holding my wife and my son in his arms. And the avengers, they went home. I knew I couldn’t kill them. More powerful men than me have tried. But, if I could get them to kill each other. I’m sorry about your father. He seemed a good man with a dutiful son .
